*** good discussion about Carleton and his concern about scalping early in the ARW. After freeing 100 captured Americans and forbidding scalping, then got upset when some were scalped. Good to start a discussion on Carleton and his issues later, as Lord Dorchester, in 1794 Fallen Timbers campaign.

Summary:         Speech of Old Abraham, presumably to American officials, relaying the account of two young Mohawks who had journeyed to Canada in the fall of 1776 to see the British and American armies meet. The two Indians reported that a naval battle had occured on Lake Champlain between British regulars commanded by Sir Guy Carleton and the “Bostonians” who were led by Benedict Arnold. After freeing 100 captured Americans and forbidding scalping, the victorious Carleton returned to Quebec from Crown Point, where the Indians left him. Also a report on the whereabouts of Sir John Johnson, son of Sir William Johnson.
